Taekwondo is a great sport and at the same time is really fun. When you learn the moves or 'patterns', you use all parts of your body. Taekwondo is a form of martial art.

We learn patterns, sparring and self defence techniques. We started at Sydney Academy of Taekwondo, St Ives club when we were 7years old and we are now 10.

We are 1st dan junior Black belts. At Taekwondo you can meet alot of great new friends like Todd, Emma, Mat Thomas and Patch. Its so friendly and you can learn a lot when you have a go.

I joined SATKD 5 years ago because I enjoy challenges, physically and mentally. I was looking for some kind of exercise. Once I started I couldn’t stop and have been hooked since. Taekwondo challenges your ability to think quickly and at the same time improves your physical strength. A great combination

!Our club is like a family and we support everyone from beginners to advance. Over the years I have gained so much confidence that I am now training 4 lessons a week. During classes we learn self defence, and discipline. We do a range of different activities such as patterns, free sparring and drills and skills. Classes are fun and enjoyable and we make friends with others who are different ages and levels.

There are also holiday camps which I love attending. Camp is fun as we get to break boards and learn new skills. The best thing I like about Taekwondo is that I have achieved my goals by myself.

I enjoy taekwondo for many different reasons such as fitness fun meeting new people and it also helps with behaviour. Taekwondo is a great way to get fit,and at the same time learn how to defend yourself. It also teaches life skills , builds up confidence and friendships.

There is a large range of different skills included in Taekwondo from technical patterns to freesparring (fighting)and self defence applications.

These are just a few of the reasons why I like Taekwondo and what brings me back each week.

I started Taekwondo 7 years ago. Since then I have learned how to defend my self. I have learnt more and more skills on the way. As my belt was getting higher every term I was getting older every year, I eventually reached my Black belt , my goal. I was 11 when I received my Black belt. Unlike some people who get their Black belt and go I decided to stay and keep doing Taekwondo. I find it very enjoyable. I do Taekwondo 3 times a week. Taekwondo is the only sport I do. It keeps me fit. Ihave made many friends throughout Taekwondo, Ive lost some and gained some more

. l ike Taekwondo for many reasons im always learning new skills and enhancing and developing old ones. Taekwondo helps me set goals for my self.

At the moment my goal is to achieve 3rd dan Black belt and then when I complete that goal will be to learn more, stay committed, compete at state level and get my 4th dan Black belt in a further 3 yrs. I know people of all ages especially my age will; enjoy Taekwondo as it will teach you about commitment.

I like Taekwondo for these reasons-Taekwondo is a discipline a Korean Martial Art which teaches you to give people respect, to your coach/master and even to a complete stranger.

Taekwondo teaches you self-defence for protection, Taekwondo is a lot of fun especially training for State Championships or grading to another belt.

I have enjoyed being a part of SATKD for 6 yrs and now very proud to be a junior 2nd dan Black belt.
